Stimulus funds lung cancer research

bilde1David Carbone, professor of medicine, cell and developmental biology and cancer biology at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, has been awarded nearly $1 million to study genetic variations among minorities with non-small cell lung cancer.

An additional grant of more than $700,000 will be used by Carbone and Pierre Massion, associate professor of medicine and cancer biology, to measure proteins in the blood of cancer patients in hopes of eventually developing a simple blood test for lung cancer.
