Annual walk and run raises awareness and money in the effort against lung cancer

Wearing a green “survivor” shirt, Bev Cole of Independence rested Sunday in a camp chair surrounded by family and friends after a half-mile walk.
The distance might not seem that far, but Cole, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in April, said she felt exhilarated and happy.
