Proposed smoking ban prompts debate
January 29th, 2009
A day after the House majority leader filed a bill to ban smoking in workplaces, restaurants and other public places, the proposal is generating debate.Rep. Hugh Holliman, the Lexington Democrat who filed the bill, held a news conference this morning to urge passage of the bill. He says the ban would help protect nonsmokers and workers, as well as children, the elderly and those living with lung disease or cancer, diabetes or heart disease from exposure to secondhand smoke.
