New lung cancer treatment launched in Dubai

Adaptive Gating, a beam-shaped radio surgery technique, was launched at the Arab Health Congress in Dubai on Tuesday. The technique will benefit heavy smokers, who are at risk of developing lung cancer. Jean Hooks, general manager for Oncology Solutions at Brain Lab, which developed the system along with Varian Medical Systems, said the radio surgery techniques, formerly used only for the brain, were now applied to treat lung tumours as well.
