Cancer deaths rates higher in the north

Hand with smoking cigaretteThe lowest rates of death from cancer were found in the south of England and the Midlands, the figures show.

Lung cancer is the biggest cause of death from the disease in the north and scientists believe that factors including deprivation and high smoking rates could be behind the north-south divide.
