Lung cancer is leading cause of cancer deaths

From all the pink ribbons, you might think breast cancer is the cancer that most affects women.
But it’s really lung cancer.
In fact, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women.
And lung cancer kills as many women each year as breast cancer and all gynecological cancers combined.

Thanks very much for your comment. As you read the article, please take note that Pat Kitts was a neversmoker. It is true that many believe, like you, that lung cancer is “usually self-induced.” Perhaps you can help us de-stigmatize this disease which is one of the very culprits for its historical underfunding. We don’t believe that anyone who has made a poor choice deserves to get cancer or die from it. There are many diseases spawned by poor behavioral choices, from some lung cancers to heart disease to a plethora of others. Our goal at this Foundation is to save as many lives as we can through research, early detection, education, prevention and treatment. We encourage those who smoke to quit, but we do not pass judgment. Addictions are not easy things to overcome. And we are very aware of the reality that lung cancer is not always a result of smoking. In the case of Pat Kitt’s life, and too many others who never touched a cigarette, at this moment in time, it is a mystery why they are dying of Lung Cancer caught at late stage. Lung Cancer has no prejudice and we will not turn our backs on the 450 people who die in the United States alone, per day, whether they smoked or not.
