Patients wait anxiously for cancer review
April 2nd, 2008
Hundreds of patients throughout the North East region, who underwent various diagnostic tests for cancer in previous years, are anxiously awaiting the outcome of a Health Services Executive (HSE) external review. The scare follows the recent cancer misdiagnoses scandal at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise.
It is not yet clear whether tests at Cavan General Hospital are among those being reviewed, the type of cases being reviewed and the time scale involved as HSE managers work to determine “what, if any, impact on patient care arose” before informing affected patients and only then publicly releasing details of the review.
