A screening that would save lives

Whatever the cause – radon? cigarettes? asbestos? pesticides? pollution? – nobody knows.
What is known is that her sister might not have died if her cancer had been detected sooner. A test exists, a simple test, that could save lives, advocates insist, and that test is not being given.
Mammograms, colonoscopies, screenings for prostate cancer – these are routine. But a simple low-cost, low-level CAT scan that detects lung cancer in its earliest stages is not.

I highly suspect I might have lung cancer.I have had blood in my sputnum, I wear dentures and blood has been found under them on a fairly regular basis.I have had chest x-rays and have been told they were clear.But, I am very short of breath,I have a peculiar kind of pain in my chest that I don’t think is my heart.I am a long term smoker,age 56, Do I just go in to my GP and ask for the CT scan?I need some advise ,and not just (you need to quit smoking.) The various symtoms are there and getting worse all the time.I am in worse shape as far as breatning goes,than last year.I could use some non partisan advice.ThankYou

THERE IS A THREE WEEK GAP FROM WHEN I TOOK THE CAT SCAN TILL I GO TO THE PULMONERY DOCTOR I WAS ASSIGNED TO,IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WOULD THE PLACE THAT GAVE ME THE CAT SCAN CALL THE DOCTOR TO SEE ME EARLIER?
