LUNG CANCER SURPASSED BREAST
CANCER AS THE #1 KILLER OF
WOMEN IN 1987.

 

Lung cancer continues to be the leading cause of all cancer deaths in New Zealand, according to the latest available statistics.

lungs.jpgFigures for 2004, released by the New Zealand Health Information Service, show deaths from cancer increased by 1.5% on the previous year.

The most common fatal cancer was that affecting the trachea, bronchus and lungs; it claimed more than 1500 lives in 2004.
