Desiree Collins, who claimed in a lawsuit that FEMA trailers exposed the residents to formaldehyde, has died of lung cancer at the age of 47. Collins died on July 2. Her lung cancer was diagnosed a week before she died.

Non–small cell lung cancer with pulmonary metastasis in the primary lobe (PM+) is classified as pathologic stage IIIB. Although stage IIIB PM+ indicates a poor prognosis, this stage includes various subgroups with heterogeneous clinical outcomes. The objective of this study was to extract a subgroup of patients with stage IIIB PM+ non–small cell lung cancer with a better prognosis and assess their biological characteristics and metastatic mechanisms.

A course of chemotherapy prior to standard treatment, known as “induction” chemotherapy, appears to improve survival in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the most common type of lung cancer, according to a report in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics.
