Lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society, is the leading cause of cancer death in the country.  Nearly 175,00 Americans will be affected by lung cancer and the vast majority will eventually lose their battle with the disease largely because it is discovered too late for any type of treatment to be effective. But, Dr. Christopher Leary of Radiologic Associates in Bristol, said that if lung cancer is caught in its early stages, a patient’s chances of survival are drastically improved. Leary added that spiral computed tomography CT scans are able to provide early detection.
