Pioneering News Editor, Gerald Boyd, Dies

gerald_boyd_news.jpg Gerald Boyd, the first black metropolitan editor and managing editor of the New York Times, who made headlines for his 2003 resignation stemming from the Jayson Blair scandal, died yesterday in his Harlem home after battling lung cancer. He was 56.
