Smoking pot may prime lungs for cancer

MarijuanaSmoking marijuana can cause changes in lung tissue that may promote cancer, according to a review of decades of research on marijuana smoking and lung cancer.  Still, it is not possible to directly link pot use to lung cancer based on existing evidence.

Study: 20/20′s lung cancer test may be effective

Allocate more funds for lung cancer research

The Surgeon General’s report calls for more aggressive action to support early detection and treatment of lung cancer. This is needed because lung cancer kills more people annually than breast, prostate, colon, liver, melanoma and kidney cancers combined; and the least amount of federal money is allocated to research to lung cancer than all of the above.

NCI Awards Multi-Million Dollar Lung Cancer Grant to Emory Winship Cancer Institute

The National Cancer Institute has awarded one of the largest lung cancer research grants in the United States to Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute. Federal funding for the grant is $7.9 million.
