Researchers Revisit Radiation After Lung Cancer Surgery

A study reported in the current Journal of Clinical Oncology found that the five-year survival rate for certain lung cancer patients treated with surgery and radiation therapy was 7 percent higher than patients treated only with surgery - a 27 percent survival rate compared to just 20 percent. The patients who received the most survival benefit from the radiation therapy were those whose cancer had spread to the lymph nodes.
